A second impression, though more accurately it is a remainder issue, with "2nd impression" overprinted to make it appear as though the novel was actually selling, in fact the publisher has barely bothered to conceal this, with the novel still advertised at 7/6 to the rear panel of the jacket, and in the "Spring 1937" catalogue which has been retained to the rear of the book. Nevertheless John C. Woodiwiss was still rightly proud of his work and the book is inscribed to the title page, with a date of 1939. The book is firmly bound in turquoise green cloth, lettered in black, which is slightly bumped and marked. The text block is foxed and toned, but free from inscriptions, other than that of the author. The dust jacket is the original, a price of 7/6 can be discerned to the spine, underneath the remains of an overpricing label, it is chipped, with closed tears, creasing and marking.
